A UNIQUE ACADEMY 
LOCATED IN JOHANNESBURG

The Academy provides both practical and theoretical components to its courses, which are immediately usable as they are industry orientated.

The practical skills are acquired both at The Academy and in industry, where they are carefully monitored by on site visits by Academy personnel.

The theoretical skills are taught by lecturers with the necessary industry experience to be able to relate the course content to the workplace.

Courses are designed especially for learners who want to specialise in the Food and Beverage sector of The Hospitality Industry – Restaurant Managers, Banqueting Managers, Food and Beverage Managers, Event Managers, Duty Managers and Function Co-ordinators to name but a few.

The skills on offer can be articulated to the Travel and Tourism Industry, the fastest growing industry in South Africa.

Les Sutcliffe has over 30 years experience working in the Food and Beverage Industry. He has worked in traditional hotels and restaurants in the U.K and banqueting and conference venues in South Africa.

He has presented specialist courses as a guest lecturer at many colleges in South Africa and currently plays a leading role with City and Guilds quality assuring systems and procedures at FET and private colleges in South Africa.

During the years he has trained, developed and guided many students to be successful in the Food And Beverage Industry. With this insight, the basic City and Guilds courses have been, enhanced by an industry expert to develop realistic usable skills and knowledge. On successful completion of the course students will have the advantage of these tools at their disposal to implement in their chosen careers.

Only people who wish to achieve in their chosen career, are fully committed, and have a passion to excel in a tough industry to work to the highest standards and quality should apply.

Minimum entry age is 18 by the end of the academic year. The applicant must have literacy and numeric skills to ABET level 4 and preferably a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or recognised equivalent. Copies must be submitted with the application form. Applications will be accepted where sufficient work experience has been obtained.

In order to enrol for the course students undergo a through screening process including an interview with their workplace supervisor or parents/guardian.

Places are limited to ensure each student receives the personnel attention and practical experience necessary
